Final Fantasy 7 Remake Switch 2 and Xbox Versions Currently Not in Square Enix’s Plans, Leaker Claims

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S versions currently aren't in Square Enix's plans, according to a known leaker.

Yesterday, credible Nintendo leaker 'NateTheHate' commented on a rumored Switch 2 third-party line-up on the Family Boards forums. This 'line-up' mentioned the upcoming Final Fantasy 7 Remake, which is currently only available on PlayStation and PC. According to 'NateTheHate', however, a Switch 2 version isn't an "active" plan for Square Enix. While a release could happen at some point, the publisher currently isn't considering a port for Nintendo's rumored Switch successor. The same can be said about an Xbox Series X|S port.

"FF7 Remake is not a current plan", the leaker wrote on the forums. "Could it happen, eventually? Sure. Is it an active plan at this moment? No. A Switch 2 release exists in the same way an Xbox release does. IF Square wants to do it, they can & will; but no such plan exists at the present."

This is interesting considering last month, another leaker suggested that Final Fantasy VII Remake could very well be a launch game for the Switch 2. In addition, the leaker said that the Switch 2 development kit is able to run Square Enix's 2020 remake as well as the PlayStation 5 does.

While there have been numerous rumors about a Switch successor, Nintendo hasn't commented on the existence of a new console just yet. Recently, 'NateTheHate' said that the Switch 2 is capable of running The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild in 4K resolution and 60FPS. Other claims from insiders and leakers suggested that the platform can feature a custom DLSS version with performance that is said to be in the range of the Xbox Series S. In addition, handheld performance of the platform is rumored to be close to that of the ROG Ally.
