Apple To Issue iOS 17 Update To Address The Overheating Issue On The iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max
Apple has acknowledged the overheating issues present on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max and intends to fix them in the form of a future iOS 17 software update. The company likely investigated the matter and has concluded that some third-party applications are also culpable. It appears that the newest A17 Pro was not the problem after all, but it cannot be ignored that compared to the A16 Bionic, it tends to consume a little more power when under load.
We did mention in our previous report how a YouTuber believed that the Instagram app was responsible for the overheating issue persisting on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Fortunately, a fix has already been pushed on Wednesday, which may alleviate the problem. Additionally, apps like Uber and the racing game Asphalt 9: Legends have also contributed to the aforementioned problem. According to a statement below that was shared with MacRumors and Forbes, Apple is working with the developers of these apps to release a fix at the earliest.
“We have identified a few conditions which can cause iPhone to run warmer than expected. The device may feel warmer during the first few days after setting up or restoring the device because of increased background activity. We have also found a bug in iOS 17 that is impacting some users and will be addressed in a software update. Another issue involves some recent updates to third-party apps that are causing them to overload the system. We're working with these app developers on fixes that are in the process of rolling out.”
Currently, iOS 17.1 is in its beta phase, so the fix will likely be released in the official version of iOS 17.1. Previously, an analyst claimed that the titanium chassis and an ineffective cooling solution was the reason for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max overheating, but according to Apple’s recent statement, the problem is software-related. It should also be noted that while some users have reported that their latest flagships are overheating, not everyone is experiencing the same problem, indicating that this future update might do the trick.
