User Claims USB-C on The iPhone 15 Pro is Charging Up The Power Bank Instead of Charging Itself
Apple's new iPhone 15 Pro models feature a wide range of novelties compared to last year's iPhone 14 Pro models. The company finally moved away from its proprietary Lightning port in favor of the industry-standard USB-C port. With the new inclusion, Apple has made various advancements regarding the feature set brought forward by the new port. However, it currently has its drawbacks as well. It appears that the USB-C port on the iPhone 15 Pro does not behave in the right order when paired with a power bank for charging purposes.
USB-C on the iPhone 15 Pro is charging the power bank instead of receiving power
A user on Reddit connected his iPhone 15 Pro to an Anker power bank and the results were quite the opposite of what should happen. The iPhone 15 Pro was charging up the power bank instead of going the other way around. While it is uncanny and quite unorthodox, Anker states that the user should charge his iPhone from the USB-A port instead of USB-C on the power bank.
We are not familiar if the company has fixed the issue in its latest update. The iPhone 15 Pro models launched with the reverse wired charging ability. You now have the option to charge another iPhone with your iPhone 15 Pro and share your battery. If you connect two iPhone 15 Pro models with one another, the iPhone with the higher battery percentage will become the doner while the iPhone with a lower battery percentage will be the recipient. In this case, the power bank should have charged the iPhone 15 Pro instead of charging itself.
There were also reports of the iPhone 15 Pro charging the iPad Pro. It seems that Apple has to fix the issue with a software update for the power to flow in the intended device. Apple designed the feature to charge smaller products such as the Apple Watch, AirPods, and the iPhone. When dealing with devices with a bigger battery, it should only be allowed to receive power. Apple could interfere and change the way the iPhone 15 Pro detects devices - a power bank for instance is supposed to charge the device.
If you are a victim of the issue, you can either charge your iPhone 15 Pro through a different power bank that works as intended or charge your device using compatible wired or wireless charging solutions. We will keep you guys updated as soon as Apple patches the issue with a software update. The USB-C port on the iPhone 15 Pro has opened new doors for mobile gaming. Users can now hook up their iPhone 15 Pro to an external monitor and connect gaming controllers for an enhanced experience on a bigger display.
The iPhone 15 Pro is powered by the A17 Pro chip that allows the device to perform hefty tasks similar to playing high-end games on an external monitor. Currently, iOS 17 is in its early stages and it has a lot of bugs and issues to be fixed. One of the major issues faced by the iPhone 15 Pro was overheating which the company fixed in its latest iOS 17.0.3 update. In the future, the company will continue to clear errors and bugs for a fluid user experience.
