Galaxy S24 Ultra To Switch To Titanium Next Year Just Like The iPhone 15 ‘Pro’ Models, According To Tipster’s Latest Teaser

Galaxy S24 Ultra rumored to switch to titanium

In early 2024, Samsung could switch build materials for its top-tier flagship, the Galaxy S24 Ultra. In addition to touting more upgrades than the less expensive models, this version is said to switch to titanium, according to a clever teaser shared by a tipster.

Tipster shares the switch to titanium for the Galaxy S24 Ultra next year using a periodic table

Using a periodic table, Ice Universe shares a teaser on Twitter by sharing the number 22. By tallying that figure, we were able to land on the element titanium, and judging from a reply to an individual in the thread, it is likely that Galaxy S24 Ultra will exclusively ship with a new chassis. It has been rumored that Apple would incorporate the same material for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, with an updated claim stating that the company would employ the use of Grade 5 titanium.

For years, phone manufacturers have either stuck with aluminum or stainless steel for their most premium handsets, but a shift towards titanium is slowly making the waves, and it will not be surprising to hear more companies such as Xiaomi, OnePlus, and others transitioning in the future. However, looking at the obvious benefits of titanium compared to aluminum when building smartphones, why have manufacturers not adopted this material already?

The answer is that it is too expensive, which is why the Galaxy S24 Ultra will likely be the one member from the entire lineup to feature this particular chassis. Assuming that Samsung wants to bring the same material to the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Plus, it may have to raise the prices of these two models, which can harm its sales. As of right now, the Korean giant is not experiencing the greatest of times as its smartphone shipments have slumped with every successive quarter, so it probably needs new ideas to pique the interest of consumers.

Unfortunately, the tipster did not comment if switching to titanium for the Galaxy S24 Ultra will force Samsung to raise the price of its flagship next year, but the company will likely weigh all possibilities before making its final call. Samsung is probably testing several prototypes in titanium already, but commercial units may ship with an aluminum frame if the phone maker is dissatisfied with the results.
