Apple will host its WWDC 2023 event on June 5 to announce iOS 17, macOS 14, and watchOS 10 to developers. iOS 17 will be a significant update considering the number of new features and changes it will bring. Seemingly, watchOS 10 is also rumored to radically redesign the platform as it will be the biggest update since the debut of the Apple Watch. It is now being reported that watchOS 10 will feature widgets as a key element on the Apple Watch. Scroll down to read more details on the subject.

Mark Gurman from Bloomberg states in his latest Power On newsletter that watchOS 10 will focus on widgets as a "central part" of the operating system. Gurman also states that the style of the widgets will resemble the one on iOS. Widgets would serve a greater purpose than Glances on the Apple Watch. It will potentially show real-time information relevant to the application and make it easier for you to access it.

If you remember Apple launched the Siri watch face with watchOS 4 that highlighted neatly stacked commands. The report suggests that the widgets part of watchOS 10 will be similar and potentially show more information. It could be similar to the widget stacks on iPhone. If you are not familiar, the widget stack houses multiple widgets that you can control by swiping on it. With the Apple Watch, the widget stack could be controlled using the Digital Crown and through touch input.

Gurman states that widgets could potentially show information for activity tracking, stock tickers, calendar, weather, and much more. This will allow users to check the information at a glance without the need to open the app. Additionally, the company is also looking to add new operations to the hardware, For instance, Apple could remap the Digital Crown to open the widgets view. However, this means that the company would have to apply a dedicated command to access the home screen.

Gurman also claims that Apple could make the new interface optional for users as it translates to a major shift in terms of design. What this means is that you can opt into the widget-centric experience. The latest changes are expected to arrive with watchOS 10 later this year on all compatible Apple Watch models. This is all there is to it, folks. We will update you guys as soon as further details are available. Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
