Nintendo Possibly Working on a Metroid Prime 1 Re-Release for a Release in 2022, Insider Says
According to reputable Nintendo insider, Emily Rogers, Nintendo might very well be working on a Metroid Prime 1 re-release for the Nintendo Switch.
A lot has been said and written about a Metroid Prime Trilogy Switch port, and while plenty of insiders keep claiming that the trilogy will eventually release on the hybrid platform, Nintendo hasn’t confirmed the existence of such a remaster in any way. Following yesterday's Nintendo Direct announcement, Nintendo is trending once again, and fans are busy speculating about which titles will be announced during the broadcast. As expected, many are still hoping for the Metroid Prime Trilogy, and well-known Nintendo insider, Emily Rogers, chimed in on the matter via Twitter.
As mentioned by Rogers, she’s not entirely sure if Nintendo will be releasing the entire Metroid Prime Trilogy for the Switch, but, last she’s heard, Nintendo has been working on a re-release of the first Metroid Prime to celebrate the game’s 20th anniversary next year.
“Last I heard, Nintendo was busy working on Metroid Prime 1 to celebrate the game's 20th anniversary in 2022”, Rogers wrote. “I'm not sure if we're getting a 'trilogy' or just a re-release of the first game. I'm leaning toward the latter, but I hope we get the former.”
Let’s hope that what Rogers' has heard is correct as we would love a proper Switch port of the first Metroid Prime.
Metroid Prime was released for the Nintendo Gamecube in 2002/2003. The game is the first 3D installment in the series and the first game in the Metroid Prime trilogy. A collection of the three Prime games, the Metroid Prime Trilogy, was released for the Nintendo Wii in 2009. The trilogy packed new features alongside visual enhancements. We’ve included a part of Metroid Prime’s original press release down below.
