Intel 14th Gen Raptor Lake Refresh CPUs Listed By UK Retailer: 5% Expensive Than 13th Gen Chips On Average
Intel's 14th Gen Raptor Lake Refresh Desktop CPUs have now been listed by famous UK retailer, OCUK, & show a 5% price hike over 13th Gen chips.
Intel 14th Gen Raptor Lake Refresh Desktop CPUs Now Listed By UK Retailer With 5% Higher Prices Than 13th Gen Chips On Average
After various listings in Canadian, European, and Asian retail outlets, the Intel 14th Gen Raptor Lake Refresh Desktop family has now been listed by OCUK in the UK. The retailer has listed five of the six "K" Unlocked chips which include the Core i9-14900K, Core i9-14900KF, Core i7-14700KF, Core i5-14600K & the Core i5-14600KF. All chips are expected to launch next week on the 17th of October and it looks like UK consumers will also be getting the chips with a slight price hike that averages out around 5%.
Intel 14th Gen Raptor Lake CPU Prices (OCUK):
CPU Name (13th Gen) | Prices (OCUK) | CPU Name (14th Gen) | Prices (OCUK) | Difference |
---|---|---|---|---|
Core i9-13900K | £569.99 | Core i9-14900K | £578.99 | +1.5% |
Core i9-13900KF | £539.99 | Core i9-14900KF | £559.99 | +3.7% |
Core i7-13700K | £399.95 | Core i7-14700K | N/A | N/A |
Core i7-13700KF | £379.99 | Core i7-14700KF | £398.99 | +5.0% |
Core i5-13600K | £299.99 | Core i5-14600K | £319.99 | +6.6% |
Core i5-13600KF | £278.99 | Core i5-14600KF | £299.99 | +7.5% |
Starting with the chips, the Intel Core i9-14900K and Core i9-14900KF have been listed for £578.99 and £559.99 which is +1.5% and +3.7% higher prices than the 13th Gen Core i9-13900K & Core i9-13900KF, respectively. That's pretty decent since you are getting +200 MHz out of these chips but do beware as you would need a lot of cooling to tame the higher-end Core i9 parts.
Moving to the Core i7-14700KF, you are looking at a price of £398.99 which is +5% more expensive than the Core i7-13700K but this chip is a much better value considering it packs 4 extra E-Core and the same +200 MHz clock speed boost, delivering up to +10% single-threaded and +20% multi-thread performance uplifts.
Lastly, we have the Intel 14th Gen Core i5-14600K and Core i5-14600KF which are listed for £319.99 and £299.99, marking a +6.6% and +7.5% increase over the Core i5-13600K & i5-13600KF CPUs. It's better to invest in the existing Core i5-13600K series of chips since the extra price doesn't make a lot of sense here. These are mainstream chips and consumers are looking for the best value. Plus, it is not like you can't manually tweak the existing Core i5-13600K chips to get that extra 200 MHz OC.
So just as a recap, here's everything we can expect from Intel's 14th Gen Raptor Lake Refresh Desktop CPUs:
- Same Architecture as Raptor Lake (Raptor Cove P-Cores + Gracemont E-Cores)
- Same Process Node as Raptor Lake (Intel 7 aka 10nm++)
- Higher Clock Speeds Beyond 6.0 GHz
- Support For Faster DDR5 Memory DIMMs
- Much Higher Power Consumption (Close To 300W)
- Compatibility With Existing LGA 1700 / 1800 Socket Motherboards
The Intel Raptor Lake-S Refresh Desktop CPU lineup will be supported on the existing LGA 1700 socketed motherboards within the 600 & 700-series lineup and will launch on the 17th of October 2023.
