Android 14 is Finally Here with All the Familiar and Some Exclusive Features, Pixel 4a 5G and Above Pixel Phones Getting the Update
Google has finally gone ahead and launched the stable version of Android 14 after facing delays. As expected, the new version is launching alongside the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro devices. With the stable release, you can expect all the features that you would expect from a new OS update, along with some features that are exclusive to the latest Pixel phones.
Android 14 is finally rolling out to all supported Pixel devices
With Android 14 on Pixel 8 phones, Google has introduced a new feature called "Generative AI wallpapers." As the name suggests, the feature uses AI for all users to create wallpapers using just the text prompts. If you own either of the devices, Google has mentioned that you can create wallpapers that actually match your vision, and you can even choose from some preset offerings.
Android 14 also brings some other customization features that won't be exclusive to the new Pixel 8 devices. For instance, users will be able to add shortcuts to their lock screen at the lower corners. Something that we have seen a lot of other third-party OEMs doing. You will be able to choose from Wallet, Camera, Do Not Disturb, Mute, QR Code Scanner, and more. You will be able to keep two shortcuts to your lock screen or just have one.
With Android 14, users will also get the ability to tinker with fonts, widgets, colors, and formats. All of this combined will allow you to truly customize your Pixel experience. All of this is assisted by AI, so you can actually get something that is very cohesive and delivers the best possible experience. You even get the option to go with a monochromatic theme if you want to have the least number of colors available.
Android 14 also supports 10-bit HDR, which will let your photos have a lot more information from the sensor. This will allow your pictures to be much better than they would be otherwise.
Moving further, as mentioned before, the Health Connect app is now integrated with Android 14, and you will not have to download the app separately. Location is also getting a change with the new update. With the new update, whenever you permit an app to use your location, the OS will update you when the app shares your location data further with third parties.
Android 14 will also encourage users to go with a six-digit PIN for added security, another feature that is already available on many other devices. There are also new accessibility features such as the ability to change Magnifier settings, a new font size Quick Settings tile, a dedicated hearing aid setup section, Flash notifications, and more.
For those wondering, Android 14 is now rolling out to all supported Pixel devices, which means that you will get the update on Pixel 4a, 5G, and above devices. The tablet will also be getting the new update. Google has also mentioned that the update should start rolling out to all non-Pixel devices later this year. We will have all the download links for you ready shortly.
