Tomorrow’s Immortals of Aveum Update 3 Fixes DLSS 3 Issues, Improves PS5/Xbox Series Upscaling and More

Immortals of Aveum update 3

Ascendant Studios and EA have detailed tomorrow's Immortals of Aveum update 3 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Last week, Ascendant Studios rolled out the game's second update to improve frame drops and stuttering. In addition, this patch includes various bug fixes. Now, one week after the release of this patch, the development team and EA plan to deploy the third patch for the first-person magic shooter across PC and consoles. Going by the official patch notes shared in advance, this patch should improve the game's image quality on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Also, this update improves performance, includes various visual improvements throughout the game, and fixes some DLSS 3 issues on PC.

Performance and upscaling issues were mentioned in our launch review - especially on consoles, performance could take a hit on various occasions."The surface-level appeal of Immortals of Aveum’s world extends to its presentation", we wrote in our launch review. "As mentioned, the game is built on Unreal Engine 5 and can look fairly striking at times, with detailed environments and impressive lighting. That said, nothing feels particularly believable or lived in with most environments sticking to those overly-familiar fantasy tropes. At times the game can feel like a tech demo for UE5, or at least it would if it performed better. On PS5, Aveum only offers a single visual mode, and while it targets 60fps, the game doesn’t always stick the landing with some noticeable slowdown. FSR upscaling also seems to be putting in some serious work, with some scenes having an oddly washed-out, blurry look to them."

In his PC performance analysis, our very own Alessio Palumbo mentioned the title's DLSS performance, noting that DLSS 3 was unusable at the time of writing.

"But the main thorn in Immortals of Aveum's is undoubtedly the disappointing performance", Alessio wrote. "While AMD FSR 2.2 and DLSS 2 and 3 are available, they're simply not enough to make this game a smooth experience. To tell you the truth, DLSS 3 (Frame Generation) is currently outright unusable in this game."

Let's hope that tomorrow's update improves performance and visuals across all platforms. Immortals of Aveum is available right now for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. Update 3 will be deployed tomorrow September 12.
