Amy Hennig’s Marvel Game and The Coalition’s Game Appear to Be Targeting 2025 and 2026, Respectively

After providing a target year for FireSprite's next game, ArtStation was also a source of interesting release information on Amy Hennig's Marvel game and a game in development at The Coalition.

Senior Concept Artist and Costume Illustrator David Masson San Gabriel worked on a number of high-profile productions in the movie and TV industry, including Overlord, Ready Player One, MIB International, Venom, Wonder Woman 1984, WandaVision, Station 11, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Black Adam, Thor: Love and Thunder, Blue Beetle, Deadpool 3, and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.

However, his profile also listed two games as of this morning: the Marvel game in development at Skydance New Media and another at The Coalition. The former is still listed on San Gabriel's profile for a 2025 launch date, while The Coalition's project, which was listed for 2026, has since been removed, likely at the request of the developer (or Microsoft).

While it's clear the information must be taken with a pinch of salt, all of the other dates listed on the artist's profile are correct, and these two track as well with what we know.

Amy Hennig's Marvel game was first announced in October 2021 and received its first teaser trailer in September 2022. As such, a release date in late 2025 seems entirely possible. Amy Hennig and her team are crafting an original story featuring an ensemble cast of playable characters: a young Steve Rogers (aka Captain America), Azzuri (T'Challa's grandfather and WWII-era Black Panther), Gabriel Jones (a U.S. soldier and member of the Howling Commandos), and Nanali (leader of the fledgling Wakandan Spy Network).

As for the game in development at The Coalition, 2026 seems a long time for the next Gears of War. Gears 5 launched in 2019; it would be a seven-year gap from the studio's previous game. This could be a hint that it's another IP rather than Gears 6.

On the other hand, we know The Coalition was working on side projects that were only shelved a few months ago to make way for the next Gears installment. If production only started in early 2023, then 2026 actually makes sense. Either way, if the dates listed by the artist are correct, we should learn more about Amy Hennig's Marvel action/adventure game next year. In the meantime, stay tuned.
