Original Tomb Raider Looks Glorious With RTX Remix Path Tracing

Tomb Raider

The original Tomb Raider is a rather old game whose visuals haven't aged particularly well, but even its early 3D polygonal graphics can look incredible with path tracing.

A video shared by Dominus Aurate on YouTube showcases the first entry in the popular series running with RTX Remix path tracing. While the game's textures still look dated, path tracing makes the game look amazing, enhancing its already atmosphere further and making us wish for a proper, modern remake even more.

Following the release of Shadow of the Tomb Raider and the mobile roguelike Tomb Raider Reloaded, the popular series moved away from the spotlight, but the franchise is far from being over and done, as Crystal Dynamics is working on a new entry in the series that will release on a yet to be confirmed date. This new game will be powered by Unreal Engine 5 and will feature a confident Lara Croft in an environment that will reward exploration and creative pathfinding. Additionally, the new game will mark the beginning of a new interconnected universe for the series, as Amazon is planning to connect together the upcoming game and new film and television projects.

In case you want to learn more about the latest main entry in the series, the aforementioned Shadow of the Tomb Raider, you can learn more about it by checking out Alessio's review.
