iPhone SE 4 Will Be A Major Upgrade Over iPhone 14, Could Feaature an Action Button, USB-C, and Potentially a 3nm Chip

iPHone SE 4 Design, Features, and launch

Apple is rumored to be working on the next generation model of its iPhone SE lineup. The current iPhone SE 3 features a design that looks identical to the iPhone 8. However, the device features upgraded internals that can get software updates for years. A new leaker has shared details on the iPhone SE 4 and what it will encompass in terms of design and features.

iPhone SE 4 to launch in 2025 with an Action Button, USB-C, and potentially a 3nm Chip For Better Performance

The iPhone SE lineup is Apple's most budget iPhone in recent years and the while the external design and form factor is a decade old, it is still one of the best-performing devices out there. With the iPhone SE 4, Apple is looking to introduce a more modern design, similar to the iPhone 14 minus some key features reserved for the flagships. Initially, it was rumored that the iPhone SE 4 will feature an iPhone XR-like design. It was then coined by various sources that Apple will see fit to bring the iPhone 14's design to the SE lineup.

Now, leaker Unknownz21 shares on Twitter what he imagines the iPhone SE 4 to look like. It is believed that the iPhone SE 4 will feature a design based on the iPhone 14. What this means is that the sides will be flatter and the display will stretch from edge to edge. This also means that there will be no Home button on the device. This will give room to Face ID inside the notch, allowing for more advanced authentication and authorization purposes.

It was previously speculated that the company can also incorporate Touch ID in the Side or Power button, similar to the iPad mini 6. However, this would render the notch area completely useless. Henceforth, this notion can be dropped in favor of Face ID in the notch. Other than this, the iPhone SE 4 will launch with a USB-C port, the same port which is expected to be part of the iPhone 15 lineup. However, the company could cap its performance without Thunderbolt capabilities.

One interesting design feature that the leaker shared is the addition of the Action Button. Currently, the Action Button is only expected to arrive with the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Even the standard models are believed to house the long-running Mute Switch. Since the iPhone SE 4 is expected to launch in 2025, it can be assumed that the standard iPhone 16 models will get the hardware update as well, a year before the SE launch.

Lastly, the leaker shares that the iPhone SE 4 will feature a single rear camera on the back. The company is reserving the second lens for the more senior iPhone models and the budget iPhone would keep up with its trend of rocking a single camera on the back. As for internals, the device could be powered by a 3nm chip, potentially the A17 or A18 Bionic chip. This would make the entire iPhone lineup streamlined with a 3nm processor for enhanced performance and efficiency. All in all, the iPhone SE 4 could be a device with better value than the iPhone 14 models.
