You Might Not See Another iPhone SE Until 2025 as The Fourth-Gen Model Sees Delay Due OLED Display Supply Issues

iPhone SE 4 Launch Delayed Due to OLED Display issues

The next iPhone SE model will move away from the conventional design and adopt an all-screen approach. However, it is tricky for Apple to keep the price at bay while simultaneously introducing higher-end components for the iPhone SE 4. We have previously heard that the device will feature a design similar to the iPhone XR or the iPhone 12, according to some sources. While we are unaware of the final changes in design, it seems Apple will delay the launch of the iPhone SE 4 until 2025 due to issues related to the OLED display's performance and supply.

iPhone SE 4 to launch a year later than expected as Apple supplier BOE faces OLED display supply and performance issues

A new report from The Elec suggests that the iPhone SE 4 has been delayed from 2024 to 2025 due to continuing concerns over the OLED displays' performance and supply. BOE is Apple's supplier of choice to manufacture displays for the SE 4 but it is running into supply issues. Due to these problems, the device has been delayed by a year. The source also states that LG and Samsung are willing and able to manufacture the OLED panels for the iPhone SE 4 but there has not been an update to the offer.

Apple supplier BOE is working on a new LTPS or low-temperature polycrystalline silicon film for OLED panels for the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus. Other than this, the supplier has also been bestowed to produce low-cost OLED displays for the SE 4. It remains to be seen if Apple will choose LG or Samsung or stick to BOE for the panels.

iPhone SE 4 Launch Delayed Due to OLED Display issues

As for what you should expect, the iPhone SE 4 will house Apple's custom 5G modem along with a design that resembles the iPhone 14. This means that the design will be pretty similar to the iPhone 14 models but on the front, it will house the original notch. The notch on the iPhone 12 was bigger than that of the latest models. However, it is not known if the iPhone SE 4 will feature Face ID or Touch in Power button.

The display size would increase to 6.1-inch but in my opinion, if Apple keeps the device smaller, similar to the iPhone 12 mini. The device will also equip a faster A-series processor for enhanced performance and battery life improvements. As for the price, the iPhone SE 4 will be priced higher than the SE 3 but Apple will make sure to keep it at a budget level. The iPhone SE 3 is available for $429 which makes it the cheapest iPhone you can buy.
