Galaxy Tab S9’s Water-Resistance Allegedly Gets Tested Prior To Its Official Launch

Samsung is expected to unveil premium Galaxy Tab S9 tablet models in several days, but even before the official launch event kicks off, a small video has started doing the rounds, showing the water-resistance capabilities of the upcoming device. Keep in mind that none of the Galaxy Tab S8 lineup had any sort of water-resistance protection, so this might be the real deal.

A YouTube Shorts video, which has garnered 4,300 views at the time of writing, was uploaded by user @bro_99, allegedly showing the Galaxy Tab S9. Though the comments section is conflicted over the authenticity of the video, we have already stated above that no Galaxy Tab S8 model is water-resistant, so assuming that the cup of water was poured on one of the current-generation models instead of the newer ones, those units may not have survived the test.

For those wondering which specific model was being tested, it is the base version, which features a single rear camera and seemingly thicker bezels. While the test is not an extensive one, such as dunking the Galaxy Tab S9 into a bucket of water for several minutes, the adhesives and the rubber gaskets likely covering the openings of the tablet must have prevented water from flowing it and wreaking havoc on the internals. After the cup of water is emptied, the Galaxy Tab S9 is shown to be working fine, with no problems afflicting the touch interface or lock screen.

However, it remains to be seen how this specific model will hold up over time, as just because a company has given an IP rating to one of its products does not mean that water cannot seep in through a small, exposed opening. Though several commenters claim that this video actually shows the Galaxy Tab S9, we still remain skeptical, so we will remind our readers to treat this clip with a pinch of salt.
