AMD Radeon RX 7900 GRE 16 GB GPU From Sapphire Pictured, Same Core Count As 7900 XT
The AMD Radeon RX 7900 GRE graphics card with 16 GB memory and a cut-down Navi 31 GPU has finally been pictured.

The AMD Radeon RX 7900 GRE graphics card has been in the talks for quite a while. The GPU first appeared in an online database alongside an early sample of the Zen 5 CPUs and now, we can see the actual product.
Pictures leaked by @wxnod show the Sapphire Nitro variant of the AMD Radeon RX 7900 GRE 16 GB graphics card which comes with a massive triple-fan and triple-slot cooler. It is the same Nitro design that we got to see on the other Radeon RX 7900 (XT & XTX) series cards with a custom back-plate and the same dual HDMI and dual DP outputs. The card is powered by dual 8-pin connectors and features a BIOS switch, an ARGB header, and a Fan-In connector.
The fact that the AMD Radeon RX 7900 GRE is a 16 GB graphics card is confirmed by the packaging which reads the specified memory capacity. Furthermore, the packaging of the card seems to have Chinese labels which point out to a China-only product but whether we get to see it in some form in the global retail channel remains to be seen.
An interesting detail spotted by @Olrak29_ is that the Sapphire Radeon RX 7900 GRE features a smaller retention bracket and the capacitor area on the flipside of the PCB and underneath the Navi 31 GPU looks to be rather smaller compared to the same model using the 7900 XT design. This could be due to a smaller chip package used for this particular Navi 31 SKU or it could be a compact chip that was leaked out a while ago by Moore's Law is Dead.

As for the specifications, the leaker points out that the AMD Radeon RX 7900 GRE graphics cards are going to feature 84 RDNA 3 compute units so that means it features the same core config as AMD's Radeon RX 7900 XT but with a slimmed-down memory configuration of 256-bit along with the aforementioned 16 GB memory. Since Infinity Cache is tied to the bus interface within each of the six MCDs, here we can expect 64 MB of IFC which is 26 MB lower than the RX 7900 XT. Besides that, we can expect some clock and power tweaks.
So far, it isn't actually known when the card launches but we can expect the AMD Radeon RX 7900 GRE GPUs to launch at a slightly lower price point than the RX 7900 XT which retails at $849 US as its official MSRP nowadays. A $749-$799 US pricing can be expected to tackle the NVIDIA RTX 4070 series but we also can't say if this will be a mass-produced variant or a timed-exclusive design. The company is also rumored to unveil its Radeon RX 7800 XT & RX 7700 XT GPUs around September.
