Palera1n Announces iPadOS 17 Beta Jailbreak as Support for iPhone Ends With iOS 17

Palera1n jailbreak for iPadOS 17 and iOS 17 iPada

Apple announced iOS 17 at its WWDC event last week with major changes coming to the Control Center, Lock Screen, and the core iOS apps. Other than this, the platform comes with a wide range of upgrades that will enhance the iPhone's functionality and make it easier for users to connect and share. It is now being reported that the Palera1n jailbreak team has managed to jailbreak iPadOS 17 based on the checkm8 exploit on some iPad models.

Palera1n jailbreak announced for all iPad models powered by A19 to A11 chips compatible with iPadOS 17 beta

Alongside, iOS 17, Apple also announced the featureful iPadOS 17 update. The update houses a brand-new Lock Screen with interactive widgets, improvements to the Stage Manager multitasking interface, and much more. In less than 24 hours after the release of the first beta, the Palera1n team managed to jailbreak iPadOS 17. The jailbreak exists for devices powered by Apple's A9 chip to A11 chips.

iPadOS 17 supports all the new iPads as well as some old models that feature the A19 to A11 chips. Since iPadOS 17 jailbreak is based on a hardware exploit, all devices powered by the chipsets above can bypass the security threshold. Note that these devices must be compatible with Apple's latest iPadOS 17 update. If you are not clear which models support the latest firmware update from Apple, you can see the full list of iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 compatible iPad and iPhone models here.

This is not the first time the jailbreak community has managed to crack the checkm8 exploit. The exploit was previously used to jailbreak iPhone models up until the iPhone X. However, Apple has ended support for the iPhone X with the launch of iOS 17. This means that there are no iPhone models with a hardware-based exploit that are compatible with iOS 17. Henceforth, users would have to make-do and jailbreak their iPads running iPadOS 17.

According to the Palera1n jailbreak team, a rootless version of the jailbreak will be released for iPadOS 17 compatible iPads shortly. If you have an older device running iOS 15 or iOS 16, the root support will continue to exist without any alterations. Other than this, the team is also working on jailbreaking tvOS which could be released soon. If you are up for it, you can check out our complete guide on how to use Palera1n jailbreak. Alongside iOS 17 and iPadOS 17, Apple also announced its highly anticipated Apple Vision Pro headset with VisionOS. The company's WWDC is still underway for developers and we will be covering it in extensive detail.
