The Motorola Razr 40 Ultra Renders Show Us How The External Display on a Modern Day Flip Phone Should Look Like without Sacrificing Any Functionality

If someone tells me that Motorola is the company that perfected the flip phones, then I would not be surprised. Remember the original Moto Razr? That was the coolest flip phone ever to exist, and while I never had the chance to own one, the legacy of that device is still imprinted in my mind. So, it is only fair that the company makes a modern interpretation of a flip phone and does so in a similar fashion where it lives up to its legacy. Well, the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra is looking to prove just that.

The Razr 40 Ultra finally gets the cover screen right, as it offers full functionality without any catches

The Razr 40 Ultra is scheduled for later this year, and Evan Blass has blessed with some gorgeous renders showing the device from all angles, and the first thought that crossed my mind was, "look at that cover screen." You see, for years, flip phones have had what I call an excuse for a cover screen. The screen is there, but the overall functionality is severely hindered, something I hope the Galaxy Z Flip 5 fixes, but seems like Motorola is already up to speed.

The cover screen implementation on the Razr 40 Ultra shows us how you can essentially use the external screen for whatever you want.

As you can see in the video above, the cover screen on the Razr 40 Ultra offers a lot more functionality as compared to what we have seen on other flip phones in the past. You can use the screen for texting, watching videos, playing games, and navigating. The 30-second clip is more than enough to convince me that this is by far the best implementation of a cover display on a flip phone.

Blass also shared some other renders of the Razr 40 Ultra that you can have a look at below to get an idea about how the phone is going to look like, and yes, it does look promising despite having a very familiar design language.

The Razr 40 Ultra is going to go official later this year, and honestly, it clearly has become my favorite flip phone that will be released this year. I am really hoping that you get top-tier specs, so it can compete against the Galaxy Z Flip 5. Do you think that the Razr 40 Ultra has what it takes to go up against the Galaxy Z Flip 5?
