NVIDIA To End GeForce RTX 3060 Ti Production To Make Room For RTX 4060 Ti GPU

NVIDIA is reportedly going to end the production of the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti to make room for its upcoming GeForce RTX 4060 Ti graphics cards.

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti is expected to hit store shelves later this month on the 24th of May. The graphics card will be the successor to the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB which launched at the end of 2020 and is currently the 7th most popular GPU on the Steam Hardware Survey. The graphics card was priced at $399 US and early reports suggest that NVIDIA's RTX 4060 Ti may be following a similar price pattern though it is expected to feature two variants.

One of the variants of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti which launches later this month is going to pack 8 GB of memory while the second one which is expected to launch in July, will be carrying up to 16 GB of memory. This means that there will be a price variation with the standard model likely to retain the price of its predecessor around $399 US and the latter moving up to $499 US.

According to Chinese Board Forums, NVIDIA has directed its partners to clear inventory of existing GeForce RTX 3060 Ti graphics cards which might be why Colorful has decided to offer a brand new GDDR6X variant along with others this late, as reported by Videocardz. Despite being more than 3 years old, the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti graphics cards still retail close to MSRP around $390-$400 US. It will definitely become difficult to move inventory at the same prices once the RTX 4060 Ti hits retail close to the 3060 Ti pricing.

Both the 16 GB and 8 GB variants of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti graphics cards will feature a similar core configuration with the AD106-350 GPU, 34 SMs, 4352 cores, and 16 Gbps memory that runs across a 128-bit bus interface and delivers 288 GB/s of bandwidth. The card will get 32 MB of L2 cache and feature a TDP close to 150-160W which will make it a very efficient gaming graphics card for the mainstream audience.
