Mortal Kombat 1

As announced yesterday, Mortal Kombat 1, the next entry in the series developed by NetherRealm Studios, has been officially revealed.

The new trailer, which confirms that the game will be a reboot set in a new world created by the Fire God Liu Kang, revealed that Mortal Kombat 1 will release on September 19th, 2023 on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Nintendo Switch. The game will feature the studio's genre-defining Story Mode with an immersive cinematic narrative and a big cast of characters featuring classic characters Liu Kang, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden, Kung Lao, Kitana, Mileena, Shang Tsung, and Johnny Cage. The game will also feature Kameo Fighters, partner characters chosen separately from the main roster of fighters that players will be able to call during matches that will expand gameplay possibilities. The online multiplayer will also be powered by rollback netcode, as confirmed in a new FAQ published today.

Pre-orders for Mortal Kombat 1 will open tomorrow, May 19th. The game will release in Standard, Premium, and Kollector's Edition. Pre-ordering any edition of the game will also grant access to Shang Tsun as well as to the beta, which will be held during August 2023. The Premium Edition, which will be available physically and digitally on all formats, will include the Kombat Pack, which includes early access to six additional characters and a Johnny Cage skin with the likeness of Jean-Claude Van Damme, early access to the game beginning September 14th, and 1,250 Dragon Krystals. The Kollector's Edition, which will only be available in select retailers for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S only, will include all the bonuses of the Premium Edition as well as a 16.5-inch Liu Kang sculpture, a skin for the characters and a total of 2,700 Dragon Krystals.

Mortal Kombat 1 launches on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Nintendo Switch on September 19th.
