iPhone 16 To Have A Different Camera Layout Than ‘Pro’ Models, Likely To Make It Easily Identifiable

iPhone 16

Apple switched to a diagonal rear camera arrangement a couple of years ago, but if a new rumor is to be believed, then the company could move to a new layout for the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus to make both models less confusing to buyers.

Apple may switch to the vertical camera layout for the iPhone 16 next year

The diagonal camera layout was introduced with the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini and was maintained when the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus launched last year. Though the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will retain this layout, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are expected to see a design change where the two sensors are arranged vertically, according to Twitter tipster @URedditor. He believes that this change would make both devices ‘instantly recognizable.’

The last iPhones that featured a vertical camera arrangement were the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini. One reason why Apple may have transitioned to those diagonally arranged cameras was due to the space constraints experienced with using slightly bigger cameras and lens materials. With the iPhone 16 launch that is expected to take place next year, it is possible that Apple has overcome these limitations, though we have no way of confirming if this is the company’s actual intention.

Given that the iPhone 15 series might be difficult to tell apart because of having the same Dynamic Island and almost similar rear camera arrangement, regular consumers might get confused when choosing between models. Apple intends to rectify such problems by switching the cameras on the iPhone 16. So far, this is the only recognizable change we have heard about the iPhone 16, as unlike the ‘Pro’ models, Apple is rumored to keep the same display sizes as the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus while giving more screen real estate to the premium versions.

So far, we have heard more about the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max compared to the regular models, so let us keep our fingers for more updates in the update. However, just like this year, we expect Apple to bring more exclusive features to the higher-end models in 2024.
