iOS 17 Concept Shows How Apple Can Implement Landscape Mode and Split Screen Multitasking on Bigger iPhones

iOS 17 Concept Imagines Landscape Mode and Split Screen Multitasking

Apple is scheduled to host its WWDC 2023 event on June 5 where it will see fit to announce its forthcoming updates for the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and more. Apart from software updates, the company will potentially have a few surprises in store for users which includes the larger 15-inch MacBook Air. Nonetheless, the highlight of the update will be the company's iOS 17 update for the iPhone. While we are not clear what the platform will have in store for users, a new iOS 17 concept imagines Landscape mode and Split Screen multitasking on the iPhone. Scroll down to read more details on the subject.

The iOS 17 concept was designed by Basic Appe Guy, highlighting what it would be like to use Split Screen multitasking and Landscape mode on the iPhone. Apple's A-series chips are capable of handling anything you throw at it. Even if the company decides to bring Split Screen multitasking to the table, the software and hardware optimization will allow the iPhone to smoothly accomplish the task without any lags. While computational performance is not an issue, Apple's operating system for the iPhone still lacks true multitasking capabilities.

The concept designer shows how Apple could potentially make use of the larger display on bigger iPhone models to offer Landscape mode and Split Screen multitasking. The iOS 17 concept shows how one app takes half of the screen while the second half handles video playback. Take note that any other apps can also be opened, allowing users to operate two apps at the same time. The Split Screen multitasking interface would remain the same but can be used in portrait as well as Landscape orientation.

Other than this, the designer also envisages Landscape mode in the latest iOS 17 concept, showcasing what it would be like to use the platform sideways. If you remember, iOS did feature Landscape mode but the feature was removed with the launch of the iPhone X. While it makes no sense since the iPhone X housed the biggest display on any iPhone back when it made its debut.

Landscape mode on iOS 17 would be a pretty neat feature for users who dock their iPhones while working. It can be seen in the image shared above that the widgets are arranged neatly and work the same way as they would in portrait orientation. The apps also maintain the same layout with the dock rotating apps in the same order.

While the concept is pretty neat, there are no concrete details if Apple is indeed working on the features. Henceforth, we would advise you to take the news with a grain of salt. iOS 17 will be a major update considering the number of features it will bring to the table. One of the major changes is the revamped Control Center and fresh Apple apps, including the Journal app. Apart from iOS 17, watchOS 10 is also expected to become the biggest update since the debut of the Apple Watch.

We will be covering the WWDC 2023 event in extensive detail, so be sure to stick around. Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
