Chinese AMD Ryzen 5 7600X & 7600 Desktop CPU Prices Now Less Than $200 US, Almost 40% Below MSRP
The AMD Ryzen 5 7600X and Ryzen 5 7600 Desktop CPUs are currently the only entry-level options within the Ryzen 7000 family. Both chips feature 6 cores, 12 threads, 6 MB of L2 cache, and 32 MB of L3 cache. Clock speeds are maintained at a 5.3 GHz boost at a TDP of 105 Watts for the Ryzen 5 7600X and a 5.1 GHz boost at a TDP of 65W for the Ryzen 5 7600. Both processors offer very similar performance with the Ryzen 5 7600 obviously being the better value at MSRP pricing since it comes with higher efficiency.
However, what happens if both CPUs are priced the same and that too below MSRP? Well, this has happened in China where retailer, JD.com, is offering the AMD Ryzen 5 7600X & Ryzen 5 7600 for a price below $200 US.
The retailer has listed both the AMD Ryzen 5 7600X & Ryzen 5 7600 for 1299 RMB which converts to $183 US. That's a major price decrease versus the original MSRP that these chips started from. The AMD Ryzen 5 7600X started at $299 US at launch which makes this an almost -40% price drop while the Ryzen 5 7600 launched at $249 US, making this a -27% price drop. The AMD Ryzen 5 7600 also comes packed with a Wraith Stealth air cooler which is great considering you won't need anything more than that on this 65W chip.
You can also find the higher-end AMD Ryzen 9 7950X listed below $500 US. For 3499 RMB, the chip can be bought for $495 US which is definitely a stellar price for a chip with 16 Zen 4 cores.
While it can be an obvious choice to get the Ryzen 5 7600X over the Ryzen 5 7600, you should keep in mind that a cooler would be required to cool its 105W standard TDP design while AMD's Ryzen 5 7600 is already shipping with a boxed air cooler and doesn't sip a lot of power either and leads to cool operation.
