Sons of the Forest Adds Wacky New Traps on the Heels of New Cave System and Boss
Popular survival horror (with an emphasis on survival) game Sons of the Forest launched into Early Access back in February, and since then, Vancouver-based developer Endnight Games have been releasing a steady stream updates for players. The latest one, Patch 3, adds night vision goggles, a new hoverboard-like “rideable E.U.C.”, and a variety of new traps for your building. Here’s a rundown of the major new content included in the update.
- Rideable E.U.C. ‘Knight V’
- Nightvision goggles
- Solar panels, light bulbs and wires added to construction system
- Ramps/Stairs can now be built between a beam and a wall
- Buildable spring trap
- Working armor rack (replaces mannequin)
- Added button/option to delete saves (also limited the total amount of save slots to 30 to fix issues with steam cloud sync)
Patch 3 comes hot on the heels of Patch 2, which launched in late March. That update added a new cave system, boss, additional lore, and more. Get the details, below.
- Added new demon boss to end of hell caves
- Added dead cultists to map
- New double story cannibal hut type added
- Added turtle shell rain collector
- Added new tougher puffy variation
- New surveillance room added to bunker residential
- New cave system added
- Added admin panel for admin clients
- Additional story elements added
- Added auto backup system when overwriting saves
Of course, both updates also include a variety of small bug fixes and tweaks, including gems like “dead babies now have buoyancy in water” (this is a horrifically silly game sometimes). You can check out the full, unabridged patch notes for Patch 2 here and Patch 3 here.
Sons of the Forest can be played on PC now via Steam Early Access. Endnight have not opened up much about a possible console release, but The Forest did come to PS4. If there is a console release, it likely won’t happen until the game exits Early Access.
