Resident Evil 4 Remake Player Clears the Game With No Major Glitches in Less than 2 Hours
Earlier this month, we saw a player who completed Resident Evil 4 Remake on the highest difficulty in less than 3 hours. This mark was achieved with a glitch that occurred "accidentally." Now, we just saw a new landmark in the world of speedrunning as a player has managed to beat the game in less than 2 hours.
The record holder from America, dubbed Jud, has managed to beat Resident Evil 4 Remake in 1 hour 39 minutes and 35 seconds. This run was achieved through the game's Assisted Mode through New Game+. Additionally, this run had the addition of being part of the No Major Glitches/Glitchless category, meaning that the run was achieved without the assistance of any sort of major skip that's in the game.
The NMG New Game+ Category for Resident Evil 4 Remake has the following rules:
- All NG+ Unlocks are allowed. No DLC items may be used other than Ashley's cosmetic hairdos
- Out of Bounds, Auto Save Clips, Merchant Clips, Door Clips, and Sniper Clips are NOT allowed.
- Shooting locks through doors is allowed. Early Goat Head in Grand Hall is allowed. Gate Skips in Chapter 8 are allowed. Both island turret skips are allowed.
- Extra Treasure Map Treasures may NOT be used.
- Charms are allowed.
- Attache Cases are allowed.
- All Accessories are allowed.
Needless to say, this player had a lot to course through without any sort of glitches involved. Still, it's a remarkable achievement to complete the game in less than 2 hours, to say the least.
If you still want to see a player beat the game from the ground up on the highest difficulty, fret not, as there's already a record that's similar to the one above in this category. Runner spiceeTV has achieved a record of 1 hour 58 minutes and 47 seconds on the game's Professional mode, making it the first Sub-2-hour speedrun that was ever accomplished in Resident Evil 4 Remake. This run, however, does feature a few major skips, so be warned. You can watch the run below:
Both of these runs are great for showing a mark of fewer than 2 hours in Resident Evil 4 Remake. Still, knowing the speedrunning community, this is just the beginning, as there's the possibility that new shortcuts and other ways to make the game go by faster will be found. The leaderboards for the game are currently open, so be sure to check out the other runners and their submissions. Who knows? You might learn a thing or two that might aid you in your own playthrough.
Resident Evil 4 Remake is currently available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
