How to Check if a Twitter Account is Actually Verified or Pays For Twitter Blue
Twitter is going through a lot of changes under Elon Musk. One of the major additions that the social media platform released was a Blue check badge. The badge was previously reserved for notable celebrities, government officials, and other personalities. However, Elon Musk made it available for everyone who can afford to pay a small subscription fee. What this means is that the purpose of the Blue check is lost as everyone who wishes to get it can subscribe to the feature. A new iOS Shortcut has been released that can identify if an account has a real or a subscribed blue check badge.
This Shortcut lets you identify if a Twitter account is actually verified or simply paying for the blue badge
Twitter's blue badge has lost the purpose it was designed for. Now, anyone can simply pay a small fee and get their hands on a blue check next to their name. However, Twitter seems to b working on peripheral features that will be linked to the accounts with a blue check badge. The change was not well received by many as it gave users a shortcut to get the badge instead of learning it. The badge provided users and readers with a sense of authenticity that a specific account is legit.
As mentioned earlier, the blue badge was linked to the accounts of prominent journalists, institutions, and companies. After Elon Musk joined the company, users can now get the same blue badge at a small price. However, you can now identify the Twitter accounts if it has a real or a paid verified blue check badge.
Mike Beasley has come up with a new Shortcut for iPhones that will allow them to know if a Twitter account is verified or if it is a paid subscription. Follow the step-by-step instructions below. Before you do so, make sure to download the Shortcut from here.
Step 1: The first thing that you have to do is launch the Twitter app and then head over to the account that you want to check.
Step 2: Tap on the three dots on the top right portion of the interface and select "Share account via".
Step 3: Now, select Checkmate.
This is all that you have to do to check if an account is verified or not. In just a few moments, you will be presented with a notification, suggesting if the account was verified or if was it paid. It is a pretty neat tool to check the credibility of an account or an institution. You can also add the Shortcut to your Home screen for easier access. You can simply type the name of the account and you will know all details regarding its verification in just a few seconds.
This is all there is to it, folks. Do you think Twitter should revert to the original changes? Let us know in the comments.
