The Apple Watch is a very capable device with many health-related features. The wearable has saved users on various fronts with features like Fall Detection, Crash Detection, and heart rate monitoring. Apple is gradually looking to expand its health features to additional accessories to provide users with further assistance. According to the latest, the AirPods will come with hearing-related health features in the coming years.

Apple looking to introduce hearing health features with future AirPods in the next two years

Mark Gurman from Bloomberg highlights in the new version of his newsletter that Apple is gearing up to expand health-related features to additional products. Currently, the company is looking at the AirPods which could potentially serve as a hearing aid for users that have a hearing impairment. According to the prominent analyst, health-related features will be available in the coming years.

Apple is gradually transitioning to introducing health features in its lineup. The Apple Watch is a perfect example of the approach as it gains new features almost every year. Last year, the Apple Watch Series 8 introduced a temperature sensor that can track your body's temperature while you sleep and a Cycle Tracking feature. Henceforth, the AirPods could play a vital role to help users with hearing disabilities.

Take note that this is not the first time Apple has considered using the AirPods as a tool for health-related features. The accessory already comes packed with Live Losten as well as Conversation Boost which allows users to actively listen to their surroundings without effort. However, Apple did not officially replace the hearing aids just yet and it would require time and technology to do so. Additionally, for the feature to replace conventional hearing aids, Apple must first approve the technology from FDA.

Overall, Apple could open a new segment with the feature that would offer additional sales. Additionally, the current iterations of the AirPods already come with the required technology and if Apple sees fit, it could allow the feature to perform in the same manner as a hearing aid using a software update. Nonetheless, details on Apple's plans are scarce at this stage and Gurman states that it could Apple a year or two to launch the technology on the market.
