Apex Legends “Imperial Guard” Event Brings Flashy Armor and New Mixtape Playlist

Apex Legends

Apex Legends is rolling out yet another new event, entitled Imperial Guard, which will feature a variety of new armor skins inspired by various cultures around the world – for instance, Wraith’s legendary skin looks to be Japanese-inspired, while Loba sports a Roman-Centurion-themed getup. In all, you can look forward to new legendary skins for Wraith, Revenant, Wattson, Octane, and Gibraltar. The Apex developers at Respawn/Respawn Vancouver have come up with 24 new cosmetic pieces to collect in total. You can check out some of the new Imperial  Guard goodies in the trailer, below.

Perhaps the most notable addition coming with the Imperial Guard event is the new Mixtape playlist, which lets you play a series of favorite modes – namely, Team Deathmatch, Control, and Gun Run – on a permanent rotation. Here’s a bit more detail on the Mixtape playlist

“The festivities for the 4th Anniversary of Apex Legends continues with the launch of the Imperial Guard Collection Event! Say hello to Mixtape: a permanent playlist featuring a rotation of Team Deathmatch, Control, and Gun Run! It’s the perfect way to take a break from Battle Royale and hone your skills in new ways. We're also excited to be adding the Mixtapes modes to Custom Matches on March 7th! We'll also be adjusting the requirements to start a match based on the modes available.”

  • Players needed to start Battle Royale Mode: 30
  • Players needed to start Team Deathmatch mode: 12
  • Players needed to start Control Mode: 6
  • Players needed to start Gun Run: 6

As always, Imperial Guard cosmetics can be bought directly with real money, but there will also be a reward track that will offer a variety of goodies just for playing. Here’s your reward tracker.

Finally, Wraith’s Kunai Heirloom is being updated to be more in line with more recent Heirlooms. As usual, you’ll need to unlock all the other the other Imperial Guard cosmetics to get the new heirloom, but this time around, Crafting Metal prices have been reduced by 50 percent, making collecting everything a bit more manageable.

Apex Legends can be played on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, and Switch. The Imperial Guard event kicks off on March 7. Apex Legends in currently in the midst of its "Revelry" season -- you can get more details on there here.
