Pokémon Presents Show Announced for Pokémon Day, 20+ Minutes of Info and Reveals Expected

Pokémon Presents

Get ready for some big announcements, trainers, because a new “Pokémon Presents” is coming our way next week. Next Monday is Pokémon Day, so Nintendo and the Pokémon Company are celebrating with over 20 minutes of new info and reveals.

Pokémon Presents shows have become a Pokémon Day tradition over the past couple years – in 2021 New Pokémon Snap, Pokémon Legends: Arceus, and Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl were revealed, and in 2022 the curtain was pulled back on Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. In other words, these shows tend to be fairly substantial in terms of news.

So, what can we expect this year? Well, we’ll almost certainly be getting some info on Pokémon Scarlet and Violet DLC, and perhaps we’ll finally get some more details on Detective Pikachu 2, which was announced all the way back in 2019. With Game Boy and Game Boy Advance games coming to Nintendo Switch Online, it also seems very likely more classic Pokémon titles will be announced for the service.

Getting into more speculative territory, a new Pokémon website was recently launched, and nosy fans have discovered a reference to developer Spike Chunsoft in the site’s code. Spike Chunsoft is the developer of the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon spinoff series, so perhaps we’re getting another one of those. We did get Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX back in 2020, but maybe another remake, or an entirely original game, could be in the works.

What we probably won’t get is the announcement of a new core Pokémon RPG from Game Freak. The studio released two games in 2022 and based on some of Scarlet and Violet’s technical issues, it seems it almost broke them. Game Freak probably needs to take a little breather, for the sake of its employees, if nothing else.

The new Pokémon Presents drops on February 27. What do you expect to see revealed during the show? What do you hope we see?
