No Plans for The Division 3, Sources Close to Ubisoft Say

The Division 3? Sources close to Ubisoft have reportedly said that a new installment isn't on the table.

At least, that's what outlet Insider-Gaming now reports in a new exclusive article. "While things could ultimately change, those close to the company have told Insider Gaming that a new mainline game in the series isn’t in development", author Mike Straw writes.

No further details about this rumored decision were shared. Of course, this isn't an official announcement from Ubisoft of any sort so take this bit of information with a bit of salt for now.

Developed by Ubisoft Massive, The Division series was initially launched in 2016 for PC and last-gen consoles. Following positive reception, Ubisoft launched a sequel, The Division 2, in 2019. Here's what we had to say about the sequel in our review:

What isn't a part of the experience that I enjoyed in The Division 2 are the multitude of bugs and glitches that pop up throughout. It's rarely the same instance twice, either; loops of trying to climb ladders, enemies appearing out of nowhere and blasting me in the face, empty loot containers, et cetera. Perhaps the most obnoxious bug of all was trying to use a character skill, like dropping a turret or healing drone, only to have the skill get cancelled and hit a fifteen-second cooldown. If you're expecting that bonus healing to keep you alive in a boss fight, having those valuable skills break down can be immensely frustrating. This particular bug wasn't present when I start my review of The Division 2 and disappeared a few days later, but even last night as I was gearing up to enter WT3 for the first time, I had it happen a couple more times (although far less frequently).

In both terms of mechanics and gameplay, Tom Clancy's The Division 2 exceeds its predecessor in every way. The constant treadmill of being promised higher numbers on your gear never runs dry and there are more than enough side diversions throughout Washington DC to keep your inventory stocked with lots of high-end and exotic gear. While the constant fear of bugs and glitches mar an otherwise great experience, The Division 2 shows potential to be Ubisoft's best RPG in years.
