Auto brightness feature not working like it should on iPhone and iPad? Here’s how you can completely reset it and start from scratch.

iPhone and iPad Auto Brightness Not Working Like it Should? You Can Completely Reset it

There are two types of smartphone and tablet users - those who use auto-brightness and those who don’t. If you do use it, chances are that you are having issues with it, that’s why you’re here, obviously.

On an iPhone and iPad, there will come a point where you might increase or decrease brightness manually even with the auto-brightness feature turned on. What this does is, it messes up the calibration and your iPhone and iPad might not hit optimal brightness levels based on the lighting around you - it can be either too bright or too dark. Thankfully, you can calibrate it to make things normal again.

But, what if you want to reset the feature completely and make it work like how it would when you took your device out of its box? You can do that as well, and it’s actually pretty simple. Here’s how you do it:

Tutorial

Step 1. On your iPhone or iPad, launch the Settings app.

Step 2. Now open up Accessibility.

Step 3. Find Display & Text Size and open it up.

Step 4. Scroll all the way down and you’ll see the Auto-Brightness toggle switch. Tap to turn it off and then turn it on again.

Hopefully, your iPhone and iPad won’t blind you early in the morning with high brightness even when the lights are down. If the problem still persists, you can try to update your device to the latest software update to fix issues (Settings > General > Software Update). Or, you can take your device to Apple itself to get it checked.

We have heard several reports that users with iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max are having issues with auto-brightness. But that issue has been fixed with iOS 16.0.2, apparently.
