Learn Different Ways to Lock a Windows 11 System – Tutorial
When you are not using your computer, it is always a good idea to lock your PC. Even if you are moving away from your desk for just a minute, this is a good privacy ‘hack’ if you live or work in a shared space. Keeping your system locked prevents prying eyes from accessing private data. In this tutorial, I will show you different ways to lock a Windows 11 system.
Lock Windows 11 System
There are many ways to lock your computer; some are short, whereas others are relatively long. It won’t hurt to learn new ways to do something you have been doing one way for a while.
Keyboard Shortcut
This is the quickest way you can lock your system, and you are probably already doing this. Just use the Win + L keys on your keyboard to lock your screen.
Lock Windows 11 System Using Start Menu
- Click on the Windows icon on the taskbar. You can also open this menu using the Windows key on your keyboard.
- Click on your name at the bottom left corner of the menu. Select Lock.
Another Keyboard Shortcut
- Press the Ctrl + Alt + Del keys on your keyboard.
- Select Lock on the screen that appears.
Automatic Lock
You can also use set your system to automatically lock after a certain period of inactivity. To do that, follow the steps below:
Step-1: Click on the search icon on the taskbar and type screen saver. Click Open.
Step-2: Choose a Screen saver from the drop-down menu under the Screen Saver option.
Step-3: Use the arrow keys in the Wait box to pick a time after which you want the screen saver to be activated.
Step-4: Check the On resume, display the log-on screen.
Step-5: Select OK.
So, the next time your screen saver starts, your computer will automatically lock.
