Checking battery health every so often allows you to watch out for any warning signs that you may miss. If you see something problematic, you can quickly fix it and ensure that you aren’t caught off guard when working on an important task. Checking battery health is straightforward, follow the steps below, and you are good to go.
Step-1: Click on the search icon (magnifying glass) on the taskbar.
Step-2: Type Windows PowerShell. Click on Run as Administrator.
Step-3: You will be asked, do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device? Click Yes.
Step-4: Type the following command and press Enter:
powercfg /batteryreport /output "C:\battery-report.html"
Step-5: When the process is complete, you will see another line informing you that the health report has been saved in the PowerShell window.
Step-6: Close the PowerShell window.
Step-7: Click on the File Explorer icon on the taskbar.
Step-8: Click on This PC in the left pane.
Step-9: In the Devices and drives section in the right pane, double-click on C drive.
Step-10: The battery health report will be saved as an HTML file. Double-click on this.
Step-11: Once you click on the HTML file, the file will open in the browser of your choice.
In this report, you will see different things, including installed battery type, battery life estimates, battery capacity history, and usage history. If there is an issue with the battery, the report will notify you, and you can change the battery.
