A new report from ITHome cites that LG Display is planning to increase its production capacity by double due to Apple's increase in demand for the technology. The company has also made investments pertaining to the move and it will allow the company to increase small display panel production from 30,000 to 60,000 per month. The increased capacity would solely reflect OLED displays meant to be used on future Apple devices.

Apple began using OLED displays on its smartphones since the launch of the iPhone X in 2017. However, mid-range iPhone models like the iPhone SE 2 and iPhone XR will continue to use LCD panels. Take note that Apple has also stepped into the mini-LED display technology which it has used on the latest M1 iPad Pro models. Moreover, the upcoming MacBook Pro models are also expected to feature mini-LED displays.
