How to Check if Your iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Pro is Affected by the Sound Issue

Apple recently discovered that some iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro models have a failing component which causes sound issues. The company has announced a new service program for the affected models which will fix the issue. If you happen to own an iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Pro model and experiencing sound issues, it is best if you get it checked. However, if you are unfamiliar with the issue, you can always check it.

How to Check if Your iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Pro Has a Failing Sound Component Which is Creating Issues

As mentioned earlier, Apple announced the new sound service program recently, which will fix the failing sound component for free. All you have to do is take your affected iPhone to your nearest Apple Store and you are all set. Your iPhone 12 will be fixed with no charge at all. Apple says that a "very small percentage" of iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 models are affected by the issue. However, since Apple sells millions of devices a year, even a small percentage would count as gigantic in terms of numbers. You can always check the iPhone 12 sound issue.

Apple also notes that only the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro models made between October 2020 and April 2021 are affected. In addition, you are safe if you own the iPhone 12 mini or the iPhone 12 Pro Max. If you are uncertain, Apple has not released any list with serial numbers of the models. Henceforth, you will have to check the iPhone 12 sound issue yourself.

If you are unfamiliar with the sound issue on iPhone 12 models and want to check it yourself, all you have to do is head over to Apple Support in order to verify. The verification would allow you to know if your iPhone is covered under a recall.

If your iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Pro has any damage which impairs the ability to complete the repair, such as a cracked screen, that issue will need to be resolved prior to the service. In some cases, there may be a cost associated with the additional repair.

Apple also notes that its new sound service program does not extend the warranty of the iPhone but does cover the component failure for two years after the device was bought.
